How to hire employees for your business at the right time

Hey!

This week’s Chatty Tuesday comes straight from my heart because it’s something that I’ve been thinking about a lot lately.

What do you do when you start to wonder whether to add an employee to your small business or not? Would the pros of having another person on board outweigh the cons?

I knew I had to choose this for today’s Chatty Tuesday episode because it fits perfectly with a big surprise I have been dying to share with you! For those of you who want to be the first to know, you’re going to have to watch the whole video to find out, although I’m sure you can guess 😉

I’m really looking forward to reading the conversation in the comment section afterwards. Knowing what all of your opinions are on each weekly topic has added so much interest and intrigue because we all have different experiences and veiw points to share, and through sharing we all learn!

So, if you haven’t joined in on the conversation in the comment section yet – you’re missing out! Head on down to the bottom of this post and leave your opinion and contribution!

Let’s discuss, my friends! Leave your comment below!

What to do if your small business is making no money

Today I would like to introduce you to a woman named Tiffani who wrote an email that spoke straight to my heart. A woman who, like so many of us, feels discouraged and as if she is not good enough. She feels as though she has tried everything to help her business succeed, but nothing seems to be working. Her email showed a woman so honest, so open, so vulnerable, and so ready for change. I have to say a huge thank you to Tiffani for kindly allowing me to share her story with you today. This is the longest Chatty Tuesday episode we have ever had, but it is jam-packed with incredible value for all kinds of business owners, and I hope it brings up just as many reminders for you as it did for me.

“If you focus on scarcity, you will find scarcity. If you focus on abundance, you will find abundance.” – @alexbeadon

It’s funny, through doing these videos and answering your questions it’s as though I am answering my own problems, my own difficulties and my own questions. It’s so easy to see things when you’re standing outside looking in, but so difficult when you are the one actually living it. So for that, I thank you, brave Tiffani – I know with this go-getter attitude you are destined for success.

Don’t forget to leave a comment letting Tiffany know what YOUR advice for her is, what YOUR words of wisdom are, and any other loving, supportive comments. We would LOVE to hear from you! And also – let us know what you thought of this video!

Huge hugs
xoxo

PS Please do not mention Tiffani’s business name in the comment section, we DO NOT want Google to ever link this to her in case future clients may ever find this critique! Thanks for understanding!

How to say goodbye to copycat negativity

Hey you,

This week I have been deep into the book “Turning Pro” by Steven Pressfield. I have lost myself in thoughts of what it really means to “go pro” and leave the “amateur” within behind – not only in my business but my personal life as well! I’m so into the concept of the book that I even purchased the audio version so that I could listen while I read! Am I crazy or what? haha. (Next I’ll be sleeping with it on repeat in hopes that I’ll acquire all the habits of a professional through osmosis 😉

For today’s Chatty Tuesday question I decided to cover a scenario that I think we have ALL struggled with –

Do you have a “friend” in your industry who you share everything with, but you soon come to the realisation that you are the only one giving, and that they are “borrowing” all of your ideas, changing them slightly, and calling them their own? It can be frustrating, right?

If so, this post is dedicated to you.

This video contains my secret solution to copycats, and I think you’re going to love it!

How do you blog and build a following?

Hey you,

This week has been amazing – a beautiful photo shoot, unforgettable nights out with friends, my mom’s birthday (yay!) … what more could a girl ask for? It’s in moments like these that I have to remember to be so grateful for all of the amazing things in my life. I know you have so many spectacular things going on in your own life, so I dare you to really focus on being grateful this week – it will do you a world of good!

A wonderful thing to be grateful for is your creative business! No matter how big or small it may be – I know that it brings you plenty of joy, am I right? And maybe a little but of heartache .. but hey – the beauty is in the journey itself! So appreciate! 🙂

Speaking of journeys – how is that blog of yours doing? Are you happy with the impact it has on your business and on your profit levels?

The truth is we all want to have a blog with a huge following! Why? Because you and I? We are GAME CHANGERS. We want to inspire people and we want to change them for the better. And we want to be able to do this through our blogs!

But how do you create a blog with a following? Let’s talk about it!

This video took me hours to create and HOURS to upload – I have no idea why, but I do apologize that it didn’t finish uploading till Wednesday – major fail!

Big hugs and love to you

The Body Shop VS. Lush >> Let’s Talk Business

Remember the other day when I said my sister and I went for lunch? Well, after we finished up our lovely meals we still had 20 minutes to kill so we decided to walk around Covent Garden. We soon found ourselves in The Body Shop. There were so many products I didn’t even know where to look. I tried on some of the body butter. It was nice. We walked out, not a purchase in hand.

And then my sister suggested we go to Lush – which I said I had never been to before. She was in. shock. that I had never been, so off we went.

As soon as we could see the store – we could smell it. The gorgeous smell carried throughout the surrounding outside areas of the store. Yum.
Pleased Senses? A+.

As soon as we walked in, the staff joined in on the conversation my sister and I were having. We were talking about our pizzas at Pizza Express and how delicious they were, and the woman and man at the front desk joined straight in on our conversation. And not in a creepy way, either. In a cool way. In a “we have known each other for years” way. At first, it shocked me – but they were lovely.
Friendliness? A+

We walked into the shop, down the stairs, and my sister started pointing out all of these products that look NOTHING like what you would expect. Seriously – half of their products look more like desserts than actual shampoos or body butters. I mean, who says shampoo has to come in a bottle? I was hypnotised and I felt like a little girl exploring DisneyLand for the first time.
Product originality? A+

My sister was midway through pointing out a shampoo, Big Liquid Shampoo to be exact, when our friend from the entrance came up to us and said that he was going to let us sample it. “Cool!” I thought to msyelf. Although I didn’t quite know what he meant because we couldn’t exactly wash our hair in the shop, right? That’s when he came up to us with this tub. As in – he gave us a free sample to take home and try out. Me and my sister? Well, we were shocked.
“For free?” I asked. “For free.” he assured me. I couldn’t wait to get home to try out this new shampoo haha!
Going ABOVE and BEYOND for their customers and potential customers? A+

At this point I just want to buy something. No joke. We walked in there just to look around, as we did in The Body Shop, and I had no intention to purchase anything that day. But at this point I’m so in love I simply have to leave with more. I needed to buy my friend a gift, and asked him for his recommendation. He said he had just the thing. He brought me to these gorgeously wrapped boxes and pointed at the one he recommended to me, but also went through the others to help me make sure I was making the right decision.
Customer Service? A+

It’s funny. We went to The Body Shop and spent nothing even though there were loads of products on sale. And ten minutes later found ourselves purchasing from Lush. Similar stores, two very different approaches, and Lush ends up on top because of their originality.

Unsurprisingly I left Lush feeling ten times happier and better than I had when I walked in. Oh, how in love I am with my Lush experience so far. And you know me. I have an obsession with taking my FAVOURITE aspects of other businesses and trying to infuse similar concepts into my own business.

And so, I sit here, pen and paper in hand as I ask myself the following FIVE questions. I dare you to do the same:

1) How can you please the senses of your customers?

2) How can you be extra friendly?

3) How can you package your products in an original, totally unexpected “purple cow“-kinda way?

4)  How can you go above and beyond for both your potential and existing customers?

5) How can you make your customer service something that lifts people’s spirits whenever they are in contact with you and your business?
