How I started 2015 with a little bit of magic

how

The clock struck midnight, and as the room erupted with excitement and congratulations I smiled a big smile – 2015 is here!

We all gathered outside to admire the firework show, and before we knew it we were back inside, drinking, laughing, celebrating.

I decided it was the perfect time to sneak away from the crowd….

… and as I slipped out the front door, into the darkness, I was surrounded by nothing but the bitter cold. I found a quiet place to sit, and soon found myself moving my attention away from the excitement of the night to focus on my breath. If you ask me, breath is underrated.

I grabbed my bright pink purse, the happiest purse I own, and buried my hand inside it to pull out my deck of “Goddess Guidance Oracle Cards”. I had been looking forward to this.

On a recent mini-vacation to Delray Beach, I gifted myself this deck of 44 cards, each with a unique, positive and insightful message.

The first thing I wanted to do in 2015 was pull a card from the deck that would be a personal symbol for my year ahead.

As I shuffled the deck in my hands, I grounded myself in the moment, listening to each celebratory sound I could hear in the distance, I felt the beautiful rush of cold air inflate my lungs with each breath, and I felt the power in my hands as I shuffled away.

Suddenly, I stopped shuffling, took a deep breath in, and turned the top card to show its face as I breathed out.

A smile washed over me as my eyes identified the familiar card in the magical street light. The gorgeous image of a woman wrapped up in the petal of a breathtakingly beautiful white flower, as though it was her dress, with the background of the beautiful cosmos, stars and flowers all around her.

I grabbed the guidebook that came with the deck, and flipped to page 23 to read the description.

Message from Aeracura:

“In many ways, you are like a flower bud who is ripe and ready to open and grow. Don’t try to rush this process, as it’s part of your beautiful path. Enjoy learning new knowledge and skills. Take your time to gather new ideas. Nurture your body with plenty of fresh air, sunshine, water and healthful food. Soon enough, you’ll get the unmistakable signal that it’s time to put your learning into action.”

In 2014 I learned a lot, and experienced my own set of hardships (more on that later). But I’m happy and honoured to have experienced it all, because the summation of these hardships is ultimately what awakened me.

As I close the chapter of 2014, and start a brand new one for 2015, I feel like I’m at the very beginning of something extraordinary.

And it feels beautiful to have chosen this card, because it is the perfect representation for how I feel about my life. I’m only getting started, and it feels extraordinary because for the first time, I’m not rushing to the finish line, I’m enjoying the ride.

I’m not freaking out over where I “should” be, I’m taking in the goodness of where I’m at.

I’ve experienced a deep shift this year. I start 2015 not only knowing and understanding that my wildest dreams will come true in divine time, but that the real gold is in the here and now. I’ve spent far too long getting so lost in my dreams, that I’ve forgotten to look up and see that I don’t have to try so hard, that I’ve already made it, and that each moment of the ride is worth cherishing.

Using words directly from the guidebook, I affirm:

i-am-blossomingI am like a flower bud who is ripe and ready to open and grow. I won’t try to rush this process, as it’s part of my beautiful path. I enjoy learning new knowledge and skills, and I will take my SWEET TIME to gather new ideas. I will nurture my body with plenty of fresh air, sunshine, water and healthful food. And soon enough, I will get the unmistakable signal that it’s time to put my learning into action.

Until then, I’m living the dream.

Here’s to 2015.

I AM BLOSSOMING, and so are you.

With love,

Alex
xoxo

  4. Hey Alex

Thanks for sharing your story with us. It is so familiar and encouraging to hear that I’m not the only one. I’m always on the run in my head on where I am supposed to be. I am a big dreamer and believer in having a vision and working towards your goals. But right now Im also learning to enjoy the journey and not to be too hard on myself. I’m looking forward to hear more of you.

    Happy and a blessed 2015

    1. Nadira, this was my *biggest* lesson this year – to STOP overthinking, over analyzing, over planning, and START living, acting, doing, loving. I embrace spontaneity more often, and TRUST that things will work out. And for some reason, they do. I think trust + faith carries us a long way. I’m glad that you, too, are learning to enjoy the journey – it’s vital in order for dream chasers like us to succeed! 🙂 Let’s step out of our heads this year, and into our hearts! Sending you love xoxo

    1. Hey Jessica!

I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching over the past month, and felt it necessary to back away from the internet so I could really LISTEN to my hearts callings. I’m so glad that this card gave you the message that you needed to hear, too 🙂 I love how life works like that! Here’s to a FABULOUS 2015 where we surrender the ‘how’ and just TRUST! 🙂

      With love

  10. So glad your “experiment” is over, I was getting worried a for a 2015 without you. I just really enjoy your wisdom 😉 I love this message from the spirit guides, funny how they always know just what to say 😉 cheers to a blossoming and abundant (my symbol) New Year!!! Xoxo

  11. Hi Alex!
This is such a powerful, intimate yet inspiring post.
I can see why and at the same time appreciate the fact that you’ve shared such a revealing experience with candor and artistry. Thank you for inviting us to do the same as we Blossom together. You’re Blessed and I feel the same in discovering your work and continuing to flourish in my own FGB journey, thanks to you. What an awesome message to kickoff 2015 with! ~~Hugs, Judy

  12. Thank you for sharing this. It’s given me a nudge to not only look forward to a new year but to reflect and be grateful for what has happened in the year that’s past. I think in business we get caught up in what we still have to achieve and forget how far we have already come. While I still have quite a way to go before I can say I’ve ‘made it’, I can now appreciate the process of growing and changing and all that has happened this year.
