Hey friend,
Every single day this week I’ve doneย one life-changing thing.ย This one thing has made such an awesome impact on both my business and life. It has given me a sense of companionship, forced me to see things from other perspectives, AND it’s encouraged me to venture outside of my comfort zone. (can you tell I’m excited?)
What is this magicalย thing I’ve done daily this week?ย
I’m so glad you asked ๐ Well … it’sย Skype calls. And not just any Skype calls – but Skype calls with interesting people from around the world who, like me, run their own businesses, and love every second of it.ย
Yesterday afternoon I had the pleasure of speaking to Vicky Lyashenko of smallbusinessgal.com and she gave me some of the BEST advice I ever could have asked for. To find out what her advice for me was, and how I decided to put it into action, you’re gonna have to watch this video:
I know that whoever you are, sitting there, reading these words of mine – you have an idea. Maybe it’s a big, grand idea that feels far too huge to ever be taken seriously. Maybe it’s a small idea that you’ve had for a while, but you’ve been putting it off because you’re not entirely sure of how to push it forward. Whatever it is – this is a sign to MAKE IT HAPPEN. No matter what excuses you’ve been feeding yourself as to why youย can’tย do it yet – just ignore them and push on. Get it done, one small step at a time!
With love and hugs,
Alex

Yayayay!! I’m so happy we were able to chat and am so exited that I inspired you – you’re always the one who inspires me <3 thank you so much for the shout out – so sweet of you! Girl, you will do amazing and the show will go BIG! You just have to be persistant and push through – I know you will! Love you and am so happy for this big step in your business!! <3 xoxo
Hey @vickylyashenko:disqus ! Thanks so much for your encouragement and support – it is SO APPRECIATED! You’re awesome! Big hugs xoxo
Alex, I have been watching you for a while now but I usually don’t comment… I love videos like this. They show the most authentic version of you. You made a great point. I used to be the same way. I would say I need this or that but realistically you’re just making excuses. The only way you’re going to be successful in what you want is to just get out there and DO IT!!!!
Keep them coming girl!
Xo,
Ashley
Hey @relogeek:disqus! Thank you sooooo much for your comment, means a lot to me that you enjoyed this style of vid and that you took the time to let me know! I can’t wait to make more ๐ Big hugs xoxo
I have to say, I think I like this style of video by you Alex. Natural, in the moment, telling us your secrets to success.
When I first started freelancing I made all sorts of excuses – my camera isn’t good enough, I can’t afford Photoshop, my PC was too slow and I couldn’t afford another, but then one day I just stopped making excuses and started working with what I DID have. It was a slow process, I had to be more creative as I lacked decent tools, but I did it. And since I had to make do I have been able to think outside the square. And now that has lead me to do projects like this one:
http://www.pozible.com/project/179892
I’m getting there, but mostly I am doing something rather than just thinking about doing it. ๐
Thank you Alex for your words of wisdom.
@PeggySaas:disqus Thank you so much for your comment! I HATE making excuses, and LOVE seizing the moment, so this was fun for me ๐ So glad to hear you’ve adopted a similar mentality! Off to check out your project now ๐ xxo
I am actually already putting an idea into action! I always have these ideas for themed shoots with cool props and makeup and, I don’t know…a horse?! So, I’m going to start doing these shoots. They don’t make me money, but they will be fun for ME and keep me from getting in a rut. Who knows, maybe one day, these fantasy shoots will be my top package!
@jessicaworks:disqus I know exactly what you mean! When I was a photographer I was very similar to you, always trying to make my crazy photoshoots a reality haha. The most rewarding part is when everything actually happens! It’s amazing! ๐
Thank you so much for this, I definitely needed this today! Every week you inspire me and give me that extra push in the right direction. I’ve been working toward growing my photography business and your emails and videos are so so so helpful! Thanks!!
Hey @alisonnordstromfieguth:disqus!
Soooo glad this video inspired you and pushed you in the right direction ๐ I LOVE that you’re working so hard and putting so much energy into making your photography biz a reality – that’s wonderful!
With love
xoxo
Thanks so much Alex, definitely needed this encouragement today! We all have dreams! and we all need to just make them happen! (and btw- on your work with me page- the video will be a recording of my screen. the r needs to be bolded.)
Quinn
Hey @qrhenson:disqus! You’re the best ๐ Thanks for letting me know about the typo! So glad you enjoyed this video – there are more to come! YAY! xoxo
One of my favorite phrases is “Ready…Fire…Aim”. Most people would say “ready, aim, fire”. However, I’ve spoken with more internet marketers who are constantly tweeking and promoting their upcoming launch that never comes because of the tinkering. “Fire” first, then “Aim”!
Long before I created WebCookingClasses.com, I just started filming cooking videos because I enjoyed it. There was no script, no professional production, just what I wanted to say off the top of my head. 6 years later, they’re still the best videos I’ve done.
Ready, Fire, Aim and you will be in the game. Alter and improve things after you begin…not before. Alex, you’re right on the money again.
Hey @cheftoddmohrcce:disqus!
YES! Ready, fire, aim! I’m with you and I LOVE that description! Rock on, my friend, and thank you for your comment!
xoxo
Yes i have some ideas im trying to make a reality ๐ I know its not an excuse, but the weather here is most of the time really bad(rain and wind). But im gonna try to get them done ๐
Just a question, do you ever shoot photos with your big girl camera, or just the iphone?
Hey @Photoannki:disqus!
MAN! Rain always used to hold me back from my shoots in England, so I totally know what you mean ๐ And no I barely ever use my big girl camera unless filming a Chatty Tuesday episode haha! Mainly just iPhone! I’m trying to change that, though!
Big hugs
xoxo
Yeah i hope you do, cause your photographs are so stunning ๐
Ive actually had on shoot today(sunday) and im having one on wednesday and maybe one on friday or saturday ๐ So ecxited – its not paid work tho, but portolio building for school – but im just excited to just shoot ๐
xoxo
Just Do It is the best advice I have ever been given. It’s amazing how we just talk ourselves out of things most of time. “Doing” once is good, but we need to work on ourselves to “act” everyday and not get too comfy and satisfied while we could do much more. Thanks for the reminder;-)
@gaelleguesdon:disqus YES! You are so right – we talk ourselves out of things saying we can’t do it because of X,Y,Z – all excuses, and poor ones at that haha. Thanks for your comment! LET’S JUST DO IT ๐
Another awesome, yet simple tip. Thank you!
@ninamdard:disqus Thanks for watching, girl ๐

great post, I love the videos of you in your different surroundings!
Thanks so much @louisecanton:disqus! ๐ I will continue to do more of these – I’m excited!
Thanks for keeping me motivated. The extra push definitely helps!
So glad you enjoyed this extra push, @hecallsmegrace:disqus! Big hugs and thank you for your comment ๐ xox
Your videos just keep getting better and better! This is just confirmation that I need to move forward with my project rather than push it back (ahem, make excuses)!
Iโm going to start doing these shoots. They donโt make me money, but
they will be fun for ME and keep me from getting in a rut. Who knows,
maybe one day, these fantasy shoots will be my top package!
