Hey!
If you’re anything like me, you’re probably starting to realize that 2014 is getting closer and closer!
As the new year approaches, I want to do my absolute best to enter the new year with confidence, purpose and organization. Don’t you?
If so, you’re going to love this Chatty Tuesday hijack! Every single Tuesday leading up to 2014, we’re going to be hosting a new series called “New Year, New You”. Sounds awesome, right?
Today’s episode is for you if you’ve ever struggled with introducing yourself to new people!
You’re going to discover
- The horrible way I’ve been introducing myself to people
- The brand new script I’ll be using to introduce myself to people
- The key concepts you need to keep in mind when introducing yourself to new people
Let’s do this!
With love and hugs,
Alex
P.S. In the video I refer to this “Why I’m Breaking Up With Photography” Post.
Alex!
I think you NAILED your new “introduction” 🙂 I am really excited to start working on using your three questions to mold my rough “introduction” so that I can use it next week when I go to Lara Jade Photography’s NYC Workshop. I am SO excited about it & I know there will be SO many people who could be incredible contacts & friends. I’ll definitely be thinking about how I can listen & help THEM … AND how I can describe what I do & what I WANT to be doing so that they can help me as well 🙂 Great post! Have fun in Miami!
xoxo,
Kayleigh
I signed up! LOL. I loved the “STOP! STOP WHAT YOU’RE DOING!” really got my attention and made me feel like I HAD to do it!!
I am SO happy every time I see a chatty email from you Alex! They always jog my mind and have me staring over the horizons to see what’s next! Anyways, I’m super excited because this week, my husband and I have paid off SO many debts and life is so awesome. I’m also launching my new and much improved website. Needless to say, this note on intros has come at a PERFECT time! Have a great trip, Alex. I’m sure we’ll be learning much from your trip ahead;)
Best,
Nina
Hi Alex! I really liked your video. It inspired me to think about the way I introduce myself. My only concern is that the entire introduction can be a bit too long in some situations. How would you or how do you think should we introduce briefly but still powerfully using only couple of sentences?
Enjoy your trip!
Much fun,t.
Hi Alex
I love all your videos…you’re so motivating and such a great cheerleader. I look forward to hearing from you every week…Thank you!
However, I have a huge favor to ask…I’m sure you love making your videos on the balcony but the noises are so distracting when I’m trying to hear your every word…between the wind, the cars, and the planes I’m missing your great advice and I don’t want to miss a word.
Please go back inside so we hear every great thing you have to say…sent with lots of love and good wishes 🙂
Lesley
Alex! I quite liked this video! It was really thought-provoking, as it helped me gain awareness that how I introduce myself is a reflection of my OWN opinion about what I do and my confidence level. Pretty much the moment I decide to tell the story I want about what I do and who I am, can completely shift the energy! Thank you. I really needed this today.
Dear Alex, I like the idea you introduce in this video. I made that already and I have create many introduction depends of the amount of time I have. I think you can not sounds so long or bored people. My reference was the elevator speech. Best week !!!
Thanks for this Alex. I really need to work on my introduction for the new year because I’m moving to Miami and I’m planning on doing LOTS of networking as I plan to do some traveling as well. I’m also going through a transition with my business as well as I evolve as a person, bit my thing is that I don’t know how to actually explain what I do or who I am. I know what I want to do but I don’t know if I can “market” it or make it into a brand. I hope I’m making sense. I need help.
I hope everyone has a fantastic week!
Great thoughts girl. IT’s good to have a proactive answer prepared. I’m looking forward to thinking more about that. Do you think it would be helpful to have like a one sentence answer AND a more elaborate answer on hand?
Great inspiration mode! Remember to introduce not tell your life story. Make them not bored and want to pull more out of you.
Have a great start to the new year.
Okay…so I ran this idea by my daughter and she thought it was GROSE. I am open to suggestions here. So, as many photographers can relate, My eyes and brain start playing tricks on me after hours of editing..for real. During a recent editing marathon I started playing around with “liquify” in Photoshop and found it verrrrry therapeutic. I just start morphing the photo into these crazy beautiful swirls of color and distortion. The final result resembles the famous “Starry Night” painting… Seriously…these things are very neat. It occurred to me that it might be fun to post them and ask my followers to match the “distorted” image with the portrait on my website that it was created from. After watching this video..I was inspired to do this on Instagram..The call to action would be to go to my blog..post your guesses and the first person to get them all correct would have their session fee waived for a shoot. I can just imagine what a buzz this could create with friends texting friends who are contemplating engagement, maternity or senior pics.
Hey Alex! With my experience introducing people to myself or a business, you’re going to want to make a couple of them! In business, and personal life at times, it’s good to have a 10, 30, and 60 second intro! That way, in busy situations, you have something that will QUICKLY hook in whoever you’re talking to. Then, If they seem interested you can expand on that more in depth. But try making a “mission statement” for lack of a better name.
